Itinerary

1

Day 1: Pick Up from Bandaranayke International Airport Sigiriya

Sigiriya is one of the most valuable historical monuments of Sri Lanka. Referred by locals as the Eighth Wonder of the World this ancient palace and fortress complex has significant archaeological importance and attracts thousands of tourists every year. It is probably the most visited tourist destination of Sri Lanka. The palace is located in the heart of the island between the towns of Dambulla and Habarane on a massive rocky plateau 370 meters above the sea level. Sigiriya rock plateau, formed from magma of an extinct volcano, is 200 meters higher than the surrounding jungles. Its view astonishes the visitors with the unique harmony between the nature and human imagination. The fortress complex includes remnants of a ruined palace, surrounded by an extensive network of fortifications, vast gardens, ponds, canals, alleys and fountains. The surrounding territories of Sigiriya were inhibited for several thousand years.

Day 2: Sigiriya

Sigiriya City tour: Begin the journey with one of the wonders of the ancient world -the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. It is also a UNESCO world Heritage site. You will probably spend almost 2 hours in the castle by witnessing water garden ,the boulder garden ,The Terrace garden ,audience hall ,Cobra Hood cave ,Famous frescos ,the mirror wall and graffiti, the terrace of lion stair case ,the summit and you will also get to know some amazing fact and story about rock fortress then you will drive to Dambulla to visit cave temple. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple compound in Sri Lanka. There are above 80 chronicle caves around this location. The most prominent allures are advanced over 5 caves, which contain statues and paintings. Here you will witness 153 Buddha statues, 3 statues of Sri Lankan kings and 4 statues of gods and goddesses. After brief explanation about the painting and the statues you will drive to hotel. After your journey you will drop to Hotel safely.

Day 3: Sigiriya – Kandy 

Lying amidst the hills, Kandy is the last capital of the ancient kings of Sri Lanka. While being the second largest city in Sri Lanka it is also famous for its immense beauty and is named as one of the seven UNESCO declared World Heritage sites in the country. With its luxuriant prairie, picturesque lake, Longest River of the country and misty mountains, Kandy successfully mesmerizes every visitor unsurprisingly. Heavily jeweled with a rich and colorful history is witnessed through the numerous shrines and temples as well as frescoes, ancient paintings and stone carvings.

Day 4: Kandy

Kandy Standalone City Tour: Enroute to kandy, you can visit one of the most important tourist attractions in Sri Lanka, the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. Your next visit will be to the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens which is a paradise for nature lovers. This beautiful flower Eden is restored with over 300 different varieties of orchids, other spices, medicinal plants and Palm trees. Later visit  Temple of tooth Relic known to the Sri Lankans as Dalada Maligawa. The real evidence of the richness will be affirmed by your visit to the Gem Museum. Sri Lanka produces the finest quality of gems in the world. Semi-precious gems, the sapphires of Sri Lanka, which are very exclusive and comes in shades of blue, red, green, white etc. After your journey you will drop to Hotel safely.

Day 5: Kandy Nuwara Eliya. 76.366 KM

Nuwara Eliya is also known as “‘Little England” which was the favorite hill station of the British who tried to create Nuwara Eliya into a typical English Village. The old brick Post office, country house like hill club with its hunting pictures, trophies and strict formal dinner attire; the 18 hole golf course, horse race course, etc., all remind you of ‘England”.

Ramboda Falls: Ramboda Falls is 109 m high and 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 729th highest waterfall in the world. It is situated in Pussellawa area, on the A5 highway at Ramboda Pass. It formed by Panna Oya which is a tributary of Kothmale Oya.

Day 6: Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara eliya Standalone City Tour (without Entrance) (Can be sold as only city tour): City tour: During the city tour in Nuwara Eliya you will visit the main attractions of the town which include visit a working tea factory where the slow-growing tea bushes of this highland region produce some of the world’s finest Orange Pekoe tea. You can also add Seetha Eliya and Haggala Gardens. Seetha Eliya is a temple which was mentioned in the famous epic Ramayana. Haggala is a temperate hill-country garden where languid low-country lotus and water lily float in their serene loveliness.

Day 7: Nuwara Eliya Ella 54.325 KM

Ella small is beautiful city in the Badulla District of Uva Province, Sri Lanka governed by an Urban Council. It is approximately 200 kilometer (120 mi) east of Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 1,041 meters (3,415 ft) above the sea level. The area has a rich bio-diversity dense with numerous varieties of flora and fauna. Ella is surrounded by hills covered with cloud forests and tea plantations. The town has a cooler climate than its surroundings, due to its elevation. The Ella Gap allows views across the Southern plains of Sri Lanka.

Day 8: Ella – Bentota

Ramayana Tours – Ella: Ella is a small mountain village near Bandarawela and boasts three locations linked to the Ramayana where local legend claims Ravana was hiding Sita. First there is the Ravana Ella Cave, located at the massive Ella Falls; a breathtaking 1080 feet high waterfall that cascades into several falls. The rocky undergoes of the waterfall is Khondalite, a kind of limestone which undergoes faster decay as hard gneiss or granite. This has resulted in many caves being formed near the falls. King Ravana is said to have lived in one of the caves above the waterfall. A nearby pool bored out of the rock by the gushing waters is where Sita is said to have bathed Ravana. Day 9: Bentota 

Bentota Standalone City Tour (without Entrance) (Can be sold as only city tour):
Bentota City tour: On your city tour you will enjoy a boat ride along the Madhu River. It is a scenic tour relaxing and interesting while passing many islets forested with mangroves and experience the natural rhythms as well. Then visit to turtle Hatchery which give unforgettable experience. The Turtle Hatchery is the prime turtle nesting site which was open by the Wild life Protection Society in 1981. Here you can see huge tanks filled with new born turtle hatchlings. After being fed, the baby turtles are taken to the sea and released when they are 2-4 days old, usually during the safer hours of darkness.

Day 10: Bentota – Colombo

Bentota – You will be pick from the hotel and then drive famous places including Galle Face Green, the Viharamahadevi Park, National Museum, Twin World Trade Center towers, Old Parliament Building, Fort district, Independence Hall at Independence Square, and prominent Buddhist, Hindu, Islam and Christian places of worship. If you are interested in shopping, you may visit Odel, House of Fashion, Beverly Street, Majestic City, Noritake, etc. After your journey transfer to airport for homebound flight
